Birds are near and dear to Jean Paul Riopelle. Pay homage to his love for these birds, here is an invitation to create an animated GIF of a bird taking flight.
To fully understand the game, read all the instructions.
Take inspiration from this bird by using your own style. Use wide lines;
For each new image, copy the previous bird by changing the position of the wings;
Download the animation;
View your animated GIF in a presentation software or on a web browser;
If you wish, share your creations through the RIO Gallery.
Activité 2 : Instructions for playing the game on paper
Create a flipbook;
Using an old notebook or book, draw a bird following Jean Paul’s style on the bottom right corner of the last page;
On the page just before it, check to see if the first bird is visible (is the sheet of paper slightly translucent like tracing paper?) and trace the same bird, adding a small amount of movement in its wings;
Repeat this step until you have at least 20 pages with bird drawings;
Flip through the sheets quickly to watch the bird fly;
Display the flipbooks in the classroom;
If you wish, share your creations through the RIO Gallery.
